Polka Dot Baby Shower
I wanted to share pictures with all of you about my Polka Dot Pram Baby Shower this past Sat. Hosted by my mom but some of my special touches added in.
Welcome!
Hydrangeas in the prams and mums in the mini vases.
Thanks to my dad for cutting perfect fuzzy squares to make the diapers.
I had to explain to my dad why I had to have circular menus - its a theme dad!
Parenting advice or wish bowl. Felt wrapped votive holder.
Decorate at Onsie for Baby T.
I just love these drinks! such a colorful detail.
And a very special Diaper Cake made by my mom (its a side biz of hers if anyone is interested)
Thanks Mom!
and the event wouldn't be complete without cupcakes in cute baby wrappers.
The Shower was held at Jasper Restaurant in Downingtown, PA.
Thanks to Select Event Rentals for donating the linens.

Répondez s'il vous plaît
I am amazed once again how many people don't know what RSVP means or delibertly decide to ignore it. If you receive an invitation - to a dinner party, wedding, gala, baby shower, etc you must let the host know if you plan to attend. All invitations will have a date and to whom to reply to.
According to Wikipedia: Répondez s'il vous plaît or RSVP is a French phrase that translates to "reply, please." It is with this meaning that invitation cards and similar documents are often marked with "R.S.V.P." It is standard practice to reply to an RSVP request whether confirming attendance or declining.
According to Emily Post: From the French, it means “Répondez, s’il vous plaît,” or, “Please reply.” This little code has been around for a long time and it’s definitely telling you that your hosts want to know if you are attending. Reply promptly, within a day or two of receiving an invitation.
Most invites arrive between 4-8 weeks before the event - check your schedules, mark your calendar and let the host know as soon as possible that you are or are not able to make it.
Not only is it the proper thing to do; it the nice thing. Now Party On!

More Escort Card Inspiration
Pin them to a tree.
Cover posterboard with paper, cut slits and slide the cards in.
Each name is attached to a starfish.
Put the name cards in pears, apples, pumpkins - have the spilling out of bushel containers or baskets on to the table.
These cards were actually supposed to stand up in the marbles but it was too windy.
Every guests received a wine bottle with their seating card.
Candle holders - diy kits are available at Michaels.

Escort Card Inspiration with candles
So are you planning on putting your folded escort cards on a table with some rose petals? - lets try thinking out side the box and spruce up that table. This is the first impression you are giving your guests during cocktail hour.
Check out the candle options from CB2; click here to see more pics
Depending on the venue maybe hang the round votives and mini vases above the table.
Try using different shaped or height candle holders set around the table with the cards in the middle? The tapers can be a coordinating color - I would use 8-10 to be dramatic. If you are doing a round table put the candles in the center and the cards fanned out to the edges.
Or from Crate and Barrel:
I love this container (look for more pics next week from a baby shower). You can fill the bottom with all sort of things - shells, crystals, marbles, confetti, jelly beans or river rocks. Get colored votive candles with clear bases. It is small and can fit in your hand so I suggest putting them in rows or on risers along the table.

Dessert Tables
You have to go check out Style Me Pretty and Amy Atlas' Beautiful and Colorful Dessert Tables.
Check out the whole blog here.
Her tips include thinking about the whole picture - the linens, the containers, the lables, the goodie bags and of course the color.
If you are a bride - let me know if you did or are going to do a candy and/or dessert bar at your wedding.

Cake Saving Tip
So the old tradition says that you should save the top tier of your wedding cake and eat it on your first anniversary.
Well if you don't wrap and freeze it correctly it could potentially be pretty gross.
Here's an idea - While you jet off for your honeymoon have your mom or maid of honor cut the saved cake into 12 individual pieces. Wrap each piece in clear wrap, then in foil, then place in the freezer.
This way you can enjoy a bit of your wedding, a slice of the cake every month on the date of your wedding.
What a way to celebrate every month in your first year of marriage.

I love my Sharpie!
So I have a small obsession with sharpie markers - I love the colors, the different size tips etc. I use them for my calendar, notes - you name it.
I was thrilled when I learned from Jane at Simply Exquisite Events that you can now personalize them!

VIP Rock and Roll Table Top
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile I was busy preparing for a Table Top Competition. It was held last night at the Villanova Conference Center and put on by the Society of Wedding Planners.
Here are some pictures of my table - I decided to do a Rock and Roll Theme - VIP Bar Mitzvah actually!
I used stanchions to separate off my table, my husbands guitar was the centerpiece with carnation balls and glitter candles. The table was lucite with a metal frame base uplit with red lights.
Silver snakeskin chargers with black plates, black silverware and soho glassware.
Menu cards were also Back Stage passes, complete with lanyards. The menu was appropriately named after rock songs. (Welcome to the Jungle - mixed green salad)
Place cards were cd's and Rock Stars were the guests. Every guest also received a rock candy treat.
Take home favors were custom made tshirts - just like a rock concert. The shirt said VIP Tour of a Lifetime - Sept 3, 2008.
Thanks to Irene at Party Rental for generously lending me the rental items for this display.
