Door Decor

I know how much thought goes into planning a party - the invitations, the food, the decor. You think about the drinks, the guests and of course the setup and breakdown. Lets take it one step further - think first impressions.
As your guests walk towards the door how are you greeting them? I came across Door Decor and they have some great examples to pretty up that front door. Its a way to bring the theme one step further. This is good for your home, a restaurant, country club etc.

How and why did you get into flowers and then into wedding flowers?
My business partner and I wanted to do something artistic, creative and original. I had always wanted to work in the wedding industry because I am a hopeless romantic. We tried our hand at a few things and ended up doing flowers. One of out first large jobs was for President Jimmy Carter at the Ballroom at the Ben. We were pretty new in business so that was very exciting!

How many years have you been doing this?
We have been in business for 21 years! Began in 1988.

How would you describe your style?
We love very full lush arrangements and tend to stay with the most current trends. Our style can be soft and romantic, classically elegant or contemporary and clean. It just depends on the brides vision. We listen to her ideas and create her dreams.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?
Working with all the different styles of bouquets depending on the bride.

What is your favorite flower?
I love Vibernum. It is only available for a short time and it makes everything look instantly beautiful when added to any arrangement.

Where do you get your inspiration?
Nature, Television, Art, Magazines and my brides!

Anything else we should know about you?
We are a passionate family business. Everyone who works here has done so for many years! My husband and I just adopted two babies, now 12 months and 7 months old. They come to the shop and love to play with the flowers. So we have a wide range of ages working with us! I have my masters degree in counseling and this helps me to hear my clients and help them to navigate through the details of a wedding!

What is your Dream vacation?
I want to go to Egypt, the Holy Land and Greece!

Chocolate and Coffee!

Let the Party Begin!

Some non professional pics - Look at the band Bigg Romeo rocking the house - we had to extend the party a whole hour!!

Doors of Saucon Valley Country Club

After the cake was cut, slices were placed in the dessert area along with tons of cookies, biscotti, macaroons and chocolate covered strawberries. We offered mini favor boxes so guests could take some home. The cocktail napkins in this area said "Thanks for Sharing our Story"


After dinner a cordial bar opened up and 'my cigar guy' served, cut and lite cigars for the guests - This went over very well - 50+ men and women bombarded the terrace.
We had to extend the reception an additional hour because guests were having so much fun. I went around to check with the Country Club, the band and other wedding professionals to make sure they could stay (and find out overtime fees!).

All in all a very successful wedding - Hope Erika and Matt are enjoying Hawaii!

Cocktail Reception

Guests moved to the south terrace for more surprises.
The ever famous Ice Ball from Ice Caters - Perfect for a martini or high ball glass!Raw bar - I can't believe how people flocked to this - the Country Club staff couldn't even keep it full fast enough.
And a fun lobster sautee station.
Frank Sinatra Tribute Show - Tony Sands sang great Sinatra tunes for cocktail hour and dinner hour. Guests loved this!
Linens for this area were turquoise with pink peonies!
Neat silver wire wrapped vases.

Flowers Galore

The Flower Show was last week here in Philadelphia. We have the largest in the country. Of course I went - with my mom! The theme this year was Italy.

How about this for a statement - use on a smaller scale as your escort card table - I love the different containers - glass, pottery etc.

A Flower Tip

I wanted to share a little tip with you, the bride or the florist. Wouldn't it look much better if the stem of your boutonnieres were wrapped in black or coordinating ribbon instead of green floral tape?

The black will blend nicely with the tux. I even had a client that had copper wire wrapped around the black ribbon for something more contemporary.


Now doesn't this look better - go ahead mention it to your florist, you'll thank me when you get your pictures back.
